iDESIGN® Refractive Studio

iFS® Femtosecond Laser

During LASIK, a corneal flap is made. The flap allows Dr. Patel access to the underlying corneal tissue so it can be reshaped with an excimer laser to allow light to properly focus on the retina. Dr. Patel uses blade-free LASIK in Wichita to create the corneal flap in a faster, safer, and more precise manner than the traditional (hand-held blade) method. For this process, we utilize the iFS® femtosecond laser. 

The iFS® laser creates a flap by generating energy that produces tiny bubbles at a precise depth which separates the corneal tissue. The flap is folded over so an excimer laser can reshape the underlying tissue. The entire process is based on iDESIGN® wavefront technology that gathers thousands of eye measurements to create an extremely customized vision correction plan for your unique eyes. 

STAR S4 IR® Excimer Laser

STAR S₄IR® Excimer Laser delivers 100% personalized results based on the wavefront-guided technology of the iDESIGN® system. The STAR S₄IR® Excimer Laser provides excellent outcomes for refractive patients by providing iris registration, variable repetition rate (VRR), variable spot scanning (VSS), ActiveTrak 3D tracking, and ActiveTrak automatic centration.
